FALL INTO WINTER FLIPBOOK - Flipbook - Page 5
A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
Maven (noun):
one who is experienced and knowledgeable; expert.
Also, a freak.
Welcome to the Fall I nto W inter edition of BANGLE, a dedicated Arts,
Travel and Lifestyle magazine for culture vultures and maven ravens.
For this issue, I wanted to create an extended spooky season , whose
clutches extend well into the Christmas period and beyond. Let’s not
forget that during Vic torian times, telling ghost stories around the fire
was de rigueur at Yuletide. And in 2025, horror is having a big moment ,
with del Toro’s Frankenstein coming to Netf lix, as well as Dracula and
Jekyll and Hyde adaptations hitting to the big screen very soon .
See also, M aggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride, scheduled for release in
M arch 2026.
Articles and fic tion for this season have a bookish theme From
restaurant reviews of historical writerly haunts, to original stories on
the theme of Literary Lunches, there is a subtle focus on preserving what
is precious and meaningful in an age where everything feels disposable
and replaceable.
The world can seem like a very bleak place, especially in the winter
months. Through art and literature, we can explore and navigate the
darkness together, emerging from our chrysalises as slightly more
interesting moths.
And with plans for a BANGLE writing competition , launching next
year, there’s plenty to get excited about .
Bonne continuation!
